Two Outcomes (Daniel 12:1-4)
Daniel 12:1-4 confronts us with the clarity of eternity. A day is coming when every person who has ever lived will be raised from the dead and stand before God. Scripture leaves no room for ambiguity: there are only two eternal outcomes, everlasting life or everlasting contempt.
This passage reminds believers that suffering is not evidence of God’s absence. Even through severe trial, the Lord secures those whose names are written in His book. Their future is not uncertain, because their salvation rests in God’s sovereign grace.
Most importantly, Daniel shows that the dividing line of eternity is Christ. Everlasting life belongs not to those who are morally impressive or outwardly religious, but to those who trust in Jesus, who bore judgment in the place of sinners. If you are in Christ, this passage steadies your soul. If you are outside of Him, it calls you to come while mercy is still offered.
