Christ Above All, Christ for His Church

In Ephesians 1:20-23, Paul directs our attention to Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, seated at the Father’s right hand, and exalted far above every power. Everything has been placed under his feet. His throne is not fragile, his authority does not depend on public approval, and no spiritual or earthly power can rival him.

This supreme Christ has been given to the church. He is her head, and she is his body and bride. The church’s security does not rest in her strength, leaders, resources, or influence. It rests in the risen King who gave himself for sinners, bore their judgment at the cross, and rose in victory. By grace, he forgives his people, gives them his Spirit, joins them to his body, and prepares his bride for glory.

Because Christ reigns, we can live securely. Because he is the head of the church, we should live submissively under his Word. Because he loves his church, we should remain committed to his people. Because he is preparing his bride, we should pursue holiness. Join us at Refuge Church Centralia as we continue walking through Ephesians together.
