The Response: Repent and Believe

In Mark 1:14-15, Jesus begins His public preaching ministry by announcing that the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand. The promises of God have come to their fulfillment in Christ. The King has arrived, and His message is not merely information to consider. It is good news that demands a response.

Jesus commands all people to repent and believe in the Gospel. Repentance is turning from sin and self-rule toward God. Faith is trusting Christ, not merely knowing facts about Him, but coming to Him as the only Savior who can rescue and satisfy the soul.

This passage brings Gospel clarity to the question, “What is a Christian?” A Christian is not merely someone who attends church or agrees with Christian truths. A Christian is someone who has turned from sin and trusted in Jesus Christ. Join Refuge Church Centralia as we gather Sundays at 10 am at 690 N. Jefferson St., Centralia, MO.
