Ephesians 4:7–12 | October 18, 2026

In Ephesians 4:7–12, Paul reminds the church that the unity Christ has established among His people is accompanied by His gracious provision for every member. Jesus Christ gives according to His sovereign wisdom, distributing grace and gifts to His people for the good of the whole body. These gifts are not reasons for pride or comparison, but expressions of the Savior's kindness toward His church.

Paul then directs our attention to the victorious and ascended Christ. The One who humbled Himself to accomplish our redemption now reigns over all things and provides servants to equip His people. Apostles, prophets, evangelists, and shepherds and teachers are identified as gifts Christ has given for the building up of His body. Through faithful instruction and spiritual care, believers are equipped to participate in the work of ministry.

This passage challenges us to examine how we receive Christ's provision, how faithfully we steward what He has entrusted to us, and how seriously we pursue the spiritual good of one another. Our confidence rests not in the size of our congregation or the strength of our abilities, but in Jesus Christ, who purchased His church and continues to care for it.

We invite you to consider these truths with us and join Refuge Church Centralia as we gather around God's Word each Sunday at 10 am.
